Oatmeal Porridge

OATMEAL PORRIDGE-1

Sometimes a simple usual meal can be changed to a whole new meal by adding a few extra ingredients. Such is an everyday breakfast oats cooked in milk and sugar, transformed to a thick porridge with fresh fruits. The little bites of fruits adds a wonderful texture to the porridge.

OATMEAL PORRIDGE-2

On a cold morning, warm porridge is perfect way to start the morning. Make it more healthy with the addition of fresh fruits,  raisins, honey, etc. The variations are endless. This is my simple version of a healthy and delicious breakfast meal.

OATMEAL PORRIDGE-3

INGREDIENTS

Quaker quick cooking oats- 8 tblsps

Milk; full cream – 1 cup

Lukewarm water -1 cup

Pear; peeled and diced -1 no.

Raisins; black -1 tblsp.

Sugar-4 tsp ( can be increased as per your taste)

Cinnamon; ground -1/2 tsp

METHOD

Cook the oats in a saucepan with water until the water thickens and oats in cooked half way. Add milk, the pears, and raisins and cook until the oats is completely cooked- until the milk thickens and reduces. Add sugar and take it off the heat. Garnish with freshly cut and diced pears. Serve it warm.

Leftovers can be refrigerated. To reheat, add a little milk to thin out the porridge and microwave it until warm.
