Weekend gourmet dinner

We had just a week from Friday to plan and prepare a three course -‘Gourmet dinner’. A week is never enough to plan and cook for seven people, well that’s exactly how it happened and in fact we did it in a day’s time.  ‘The food should be fine dining quality and plated to five star standards’ – that’s the criteria set for Gourmet Dinner. We planned a meal which we haven’t attempted before, and hence from preparation to cooking it was an experience.

Everything was prepared from scratch, from the Pâte Sucrée to the Pasta. We had an elaborate and a laborious menu, we set a high benchmark. Though we had a week, never got the time to decide the menu and shop for the ingredients. It was on Thursday night we sat together, flipped through books and magazines; set the menu. The grocery shopping was done on the afternoon of the dinner; we took around 5 hours from preparation, to plating, to serving the dishes. The menu was:

Appetizers-

Smoked trio

Smoked Salmon, Smoked Mackerel and Smoked Hamour.

Vegetarian trio

Vegetable stack, crispy beans and fig n’ cream cheese.

 Mains-

Beef fillet

Beef fillet with a side of tomato confit, and steamed vegetables

 Mushroom tortellini

Handmade tortellini filled with mushroom

Dessert-

Chocolate and raspberry tart

 Drinks-

Japanese slipper

It was a heartwarming meal. We enjoyed the whole process and even produced a video of the entire day to remember it forever.

So you must be wondering who were the guests; we were cooking for eight special people and all of us were involved in the cooking for the evening.

The video was shot by Mr. S and Spk, and edited by Spk.

  1. Though I’ve seen this video before, I actually REALLY saw it just now. I think when I saw it first, I’d just gotten back from a holiday and was busy with getting things back on track, and simply *liked* this on FB.
But wow! This is actually pretty darn fantastic! We gotta do this again (when I’m in town!). The food looks incredible and the video is extremely well made!
